Altos brings North America’s 50 Best Bars 2024 to San Miguel de Allende!

For the second consecutive time, the 50 Best Bars North America ceremony took place in Mexico, paying tribute to global cocktails.

The city of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, witnessed the reveal of North America’s 50 Best Bars 2024. The event, held at the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende on April 23, 2024, celebrated excellence in cocktails the region, including Mexico, the United States and Canada.

For the eighth consecutive year, our Altos brand was the official tequila sponsor of the initiative. The events started on Monday, April 22 with the well-known Bartender’s Feast, an event dedicated to the exclusive celebration of bartenders. Altos offered a takeover at the 21nica Cantina to continue the celebrations. On Tuesday, April 23, the official ceremony took place. This year we invited our friends of Alquímico in Cartagena for a takeover of the Altos bar at the event. We decided to bring all the flavor and distinction of this Colombian bar to merge with Altos and show why our tequila is the best. At the end of the event, Altos together with Absolut and Monkey 47 sponsored the official “After Fifty” after party where bartenders, bar owners and industry professionals could enjoy exclusive cocktails from our brands made by the best bars in Mexico such as Licorería Limantour, Café de Nadie, Bekeb, Selva Oaxaca and Zapote Bar.

Handshake Speakeasy, from Mexico City, made history by being crowned The Best Bar in North America and The Best Bar in Mexico 2024. Run by Eric van Beek, this bar surprises with its molecular mixology and unique creations. From clarified juice cocktails to unusual spirit infusions, each drink is a masterpiece of flavor and sophistication.

On the other hand, New York City remains the undisputed leader in the cocktail scene, with 12 of the top 26 bars in the US making the list. Meanwhile, Mexico City is establishing itself as a must-see destination for cocktail lovers, with 9 of the 15 Mexican bars recognized.

Like every year, our Altos brand is the tequila sponsor of the event and has the honor of presenting edition after edition of the now famous Altos Bartender’s Bartender Award. This year bartender Kate Boushel, of the Barroco Group and Atwater Cocktail Club of Canada, was awarded, recognizing her exceptional contribution to the cocktail industry.
