TEQUILA REPOSADO

Our multi-award winning reposado is aged in oak barrels for between 4-6 months, giving a robust flavor profile to the product. On the nose it offers sweet citrus smells such as grapefruit and orange, on the tongue it delivers flavors of citrus combined with a delightful woody texture.

OLMECA ALTOS
TEQUILA PLATA

Altos plata offers a medium strength of flavor, with citrus tones and an incredibly smooth aftertaste. This particular tequila has been the recipient of both the Gold and Master medals at the Tequila Masters, proving what we have long known about this great tasting product. Our Altos Plata is also the go-to choice by bar staff around the world, and has grown to become one of the most used tequilas in Margarita-making.

OLMECA ALTOS
TEQUILA AÑEJO

Using barrels once used to house bourbon, the 12 month aging process for our añejo ensures that the hand-crafted tequila takes on a new life entirely. The small barrels deliver complex flavors of smokiness which blend perfectly with the naturally sweet and citric taste of the Blue Weber agave.

Our maestro tequilero

Our maestro tequilero

Maestro Tequilero Jesús Hernandez keeps us grounded and oversees production at our birthplace, the Destilería Colonial de Jalisco in Los Altos, where he has been the Maestro for 17 years. Managing every part of production, from the harvesting of agave to the aging of our Reposado, Jesús pours his passion into every bottle of Altos Tequila. A Jalisco native himself, Jesús spent many years studying architecture and bottle manufacturing in the USA and brought his knowledge back to Mexico to help construct our distillery. His son, also named Jesús, provides tours of the distillery. We like to keep it in the family.

Our creators

Henry Besant and Dre Masso both got their starts in the bartending industry, working their way to the top and winning awards with every step. After noticing a gap in the tequila market, Henry and Dre partnered with Maestro Tequilero Jesús Hernandez to create high-quality tequila that captured the authenticity of agave distillation, but also make it accessible to tequila fans from all over. The result- Altos Tequila, a tequila created by bartenders for bartenders.

Tahona Stone

Distillation

Barrels

Tahona Stone

We use both the roller mill and the 400 year-old method of the Tahona Stone to achieve a blend of unique tequila punchiness and natural smoothness to complete the Altos Tequila recipe. Afterwards, the agave fibers and liquid are fermented with our proprietary yeast.

Distillation

We keep distillation on the DL, double distilling in small-batch copper stills. Quality over quantity. Mama would be proud.

Barrels

Olmeca Altos Reposado and Añejo are aged in 200-liter bourbon barrels for minimum of 12 months. Using smaller barrels creates a more complex profile, perfectly balanced, keeping its unique tequila taste.

Sustaintability

Logo Olmeca Altos

Our agave is so important that we rally it for use even after it’s made its way into our tequila. 98% of all organic waste from production is composted and reused to grow the next generation of agave. In fact, the total amount of non-recycled material per year could fit inside the trunk of a car- just don’t put it in ours.
